October 26, Barrister Jeremy Barnett who is from the city Leeds, UK visited our Firm. Director Hu Xiangfu and other partners and lawyers received the guest.

Barrister Barnett is a practicing member of the Bar in the UK and specializes in heavy fraud and regulatory breach work. He is also the chairman of the Bar Council IT Panel and Courtcom Ltd. in the UK. Director Hu introduced to the guest the present conditions of the Zhejiang and Hangzhou law career and the development of the Firm since its establishment.

Barrister Barnett shared with us his three objectives for the near future: the first is to set up the “Hangzhou Legal” project for the aim of building Hanghzou into a financial center by using information technology; the second is to hold a “Hangzhou-Leeds legal week” programme next year; the third is to organize a mediation panel with both Chinese and UK lawyers sitting inside to settle commercial disputes between Chinese and UK parties by using information technology. Director Hu was very interested in these programmes and expressed the Firm’s willingness to participate in the work for the programmes.

It is believed that with the prospect of a boom in UK-China trade, there must be great opportunities for the cooperation between UK and Chinese lawyers.
